What is CompatTelRunner.exe on Win10 ? And How to disable it ?
CompatTelRunner.exe is also known as Windows Compatibility Telemetry. This periodically sends usage and performance data to Microsoft IP addresses so that improvements can be made on user experience and fix potential errors. This is normally enabled by default but there is a way to disable it.
To disable compattelrunner.exe, just execute:
Task Scheduler – Microsoft – Windows – Application Experience – right click on each task for: DISABLE
Et voilà !
No more problem on my Dell Inspiron 7520.
At least, a way out shorter answer than the upper ‘Microsoft Support Engineer’ (I hate those kind of answer, they could tie you up on your computer for months, for nothing).

The Internet of Things (IoT) can only succeed when things are able to communicate with one another. Within proprietary networks, establishing that communication is fairly easy — but interoperability becomes a challenge as businesses seek ways to communicate seamlessly with customers and suppliers using heterogeneous networks. At this week’s AllSeen Alliance Summit, Microsoft made a major contribution to enabling that communication by announcing that AllJoyn will be implemented into Windows 10.
A project of the cross-industry AllSeen Alliance, AllJoyn is an open source software framework and set of services that aims to enable interoperability among connected devices, regardless of the underlying proprietary technology or communications protocols. By implementing AllJoyn in Windows 10, Microsoft is joining with more than 80 alliance members to support interoperability across a variety of platforms and at scale, advancing the development and vision of IoT. There is a process I found in my Task Manager named CTF Loader (32 bit) (ctfmon.exe) and I have just noticed it now, although in the properties of the file it says it was created last year. It’s size is 10.5kb and size on disc is 12.0kb. The file is located in C:\Windows\SysWOW64. Is this supposed to be on my computer or is it a virus or some sort of malware?
What is CTF Loader ( ctfmon.exe )?
It’s an Office File and it’s in my computer (W7) too.
It’s a legitimate file.
Don’t worry it about it.
CTFMon is involved with the language/alternative input services in Office XP. CTFMON.exe will continue to put itself back into MSConfig when you run the Office XP apps as long as the Text Services and Speech applets in the Control Panel are enabled. Not required if you don’t need these features.
Note: After you have finished clean boot, follow these steps to boot to normal startup.
a) Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.
b) In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.
c) On the ‘General’ tab, click the ‘Normal Startup’ option, and then click ‘OK’.
d) When you are prompted to restart the computer, click ‘Restart’.
Method 2 : Run system file checker (SFC) and see if it helps. Please follow these steps:
a. Press Windows + X keys and click command prompt (admin).
b. Type the following command in command prompt and press Enter.
System file checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Basically, you must uninstall your current driver; then, upon a restart it will automatically install the updated driver with which you can disable with Fn+F9 normally.
These are the steps to do so:
Open up the Control Panel, then search for “Mouse” in the upper right search bar. Click on the first result to open up a “Mouse Properties” box.
Navigate to the rightmost “Hardware” tab to find installed touchpad devices. Assuming device drivers for a mouse are installed, click on the device which is not your mouse. For my system, it was named, “Asus Support Device.”
Once you have selected it, click on the “Properties” button near the bottom right to open up the device’s properties.
A new box will appear; go to the second tab named “Driver” on it. Continue by clicking on the “Uninstall” button on the bottom. A new dialogue box will appear. Ensure that you will not “delete driver software,” and click “OK.”
It will then ask you to restart your computer. Do so. After the restart, it should tell you that it is installing the new device driving for “ASUS Touchpad.” In my situation, it required me to restart my computer again.
After the second restart, your touchpad driver should be completely up to date, and Fn+F9 will disable the touchpad, as it should.
